SURVEY RESULTS

Thanks to all those Members who completed the survey. We were looking to see which of our suggested fundraising events would be a good choice for both interest and willingness to contribute to a British charitable cause in the USA or, in some cases, back home in the UK. We set a benchmark of 80% or more interest from respondents. The qualifiers were:

  • British style jumble sale

  • Auction of British Memorabilia

  • Potluck Picnic

  • Trivia quiz

FOLLOW UP

We do have plans for all these at some point in the next 6 months, but priority (for weather reasons) will be going to the picnic potluck in the Puget Sound and Greater Portland areas in late July. The jumble sale will be "piloted" in the Eastern Washington area in August. It is hoped some other events we have held in the past, such as the pie and pasty party, will go ahead as a partnership with a nonprofit.

We also has some suggestions for events. The most often mentioned was the Men's Football World Cup. Based on past experience, we find that single center watch parties do not attract big numbers to meld into a fundraising event. However, we are doing two things to get Members involved.

  1. First, there will be a free to enter Prediction competition which will be promoted from May 31st with three chances to win up to $150 in gift cards.

  2. Second we will have a blog feature where you can let others know where you will be at a watch party in our region and invite others to join you to watch England and Scotland games in particular. That initial blog post will also be published on May 31st.

One idea that will have to wait for next year is a Eurovision watch party. That and some other suggestions such as Pub Meet Ups will be evaluated by our new Area Club Organizers who we hope to have in place by July 1st.

RAFFLE RESULTS

The two $50 Amazon gift cards were won by Steve F. of the Puget Sound Club and Kathy A. of the Greater Portland Club. We have been in touch with them both to share the good news and their prize will be with them very soon. The VIP Members "Losing ticket" giveaway prize of a collection of British themed key rings was won by Dame Heather of Enatai, better known as the host of the 2025 Pie and Pasty party.

ANY MORE IDEAS?

If you read this post, but did not complete a survey form, and have an event idea you are willing to help organize then let us know your idea by filling in our Contact Form on the website. Please remember we will be assessing all event ideas on two key criteria going forward:

  • Will it attract enough interest that funds can be raised for a British charitable cause. If you are involved in that cause already, fantastic!

  • Are you willing to help organize the event either as host or assisting a host? That would be pertinent if you are able to organize a venue for us or have skills/experience in hosting such an event in the past.

Thanks for your attention!
